Cory “Ruthless” Routh is one of the forefathers of the sport of Kayak Fishing. He has been at the front of the kayak fishing movement in the Mid-Atlantic. Ruthless has over 15 years of kayak fishing experience and had fished everywhere along the east and gulf coasts, and even in Hawaii. Cory is an avid fly fisherman and very proficient in both fresh and saltwater. Ruthless is a virtual encyclopedia of kayak fishing knowledge; his technical, but straight forward approach is reflected in his very successful book Kayak Fishing: The Complete Guide which just published in its 2nd edition.
He owns and operates Ruthless Outdoor Adventures llc, and guides kayak fishing and hunting trips in VA and NC. He has a BS in Marine Biology from ECU and when not kayak fishing, he coordinates the Chesapeake Bay Monitoring and the Coastal Assessment programs for the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
Cory’s accomplishments in kayak fishing include; founding the Tidewater Kayak Anglers Association, one of the largest active kayak fishing clubs on the east coast. He also started its annual charity tournament which in 2011 had over 200 participants. Ruthless is also a very active volunteer for Heroes’ on the Water and Project Healing Waters, which uses kayak fishing and fly fishing to rehabilitate, injured war veterans.
